Today many multinational companies commit to having a positive social impact on the localities and communities in which they operate. They develop a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) policy, setting themselves ethical, environmental, educational (etc.) goals they often implement in collaboration with external stakeholders.
The industrial city of Pilsen, hometown of the renowned beer and Skoda factory, was a perfect setting to tackle this topic: here stakeholders from the private and public sector are working closely together on a long-term development strategy. One of the many signs of Pilsen’s dynamism is its title as 2015 European Capital of Culture.
Techmania is a key player on this regional development scene. Located in a repurposed industrial site, it combines historical resonance with the latest science centre equipment. In just six years of existence, is has firmly rooted itself on the map of European science engagement and now receives more than 200,000 visitors per year.
