Whether you are tempted to pursue science professionally, or are merely curious about a few scientific concepts, it helps to know the correct terminology. The English Advantage Program can help your group as you visit Techmania. Currently, our native speaker is Whitaker Martin , age 23, a native of Michigan.

Whit can lead your group through a tour of Techmania, explaining our museum's history, as well as explaining the science behind each of the exhibits. He can also offer a tour of our vacuum exhibits, explaining what happens to water, sound, light, and falling objects in a vacuum state.

FREE Programs of the Europe Direct Plzeň

EU GAME

Focus group: primary school (recommended for fifth graders)
Duration: 45 – 60 minutes

This program familiarize pupils with basic facts about the EU (what is the EU, why was it created and what is its function). The children will learn what the symbols of the EU are (Flag, anthem, motto and the role of the Europe Day). On a playful way the pupils will also find out basic facts about the member states.

Let´s meet the EU

Focus group: Primary school, six graders and senior pupils
Duration: 60 minutes

This program is designed for senior pupils of primary schools. They will learn many information about the EU (what is it, why was it established, what is its function, what international organizations were existing in Europe before the EU was constituted and what the Schuman Declaration is). The pupils will be told what the symbols of the EU are (Flag, anthem, motto and the role of the Europe Day) and will meet the European currency – the Euro. They also will learn basic information about the important institutions of the EU (the European Parliament, the European Commission and the Council of the European Union).

Focus group: high school
Duration: 60 minutes

This program is designed for high school students. The students will be familiarized with detail information about the EU and with its history. They will learn about the European institutions (like for example the European Parliament, the European Commission and the Council of the European Union) and they will also discuss actual topics, for example the Treaty of Lisbon, the Schengen cooperation and the possibilities of increasing the EU (Turkey) as well as many others.
